Week Ahead: Feb. 3-7

What a way to start up our new year.  I counted my blessings so many time during the week.  When there is an emergency, a difficult situation, a challenge being faced that doesn’t have an easy answer, you want the best team in place.  We have that team.  Finding our way through this situation is infinitely better with all of us working together.  The compassion, consideration, and solution-focused thinking you all have demonstrated already has inspired confidence in our students and parents.  Your creativity, flexibility, and positive attitudes will be the very things that help us successfully navigate the weeks ahead.

Dealing with Rumors: Thank you all for addressing rumors that have emerged regarding the coronovirus.  Let’s continue to be proactive in dealing with comments, rumors, and student behaviors.  We have the opportunity to help our students process the ongoing health emergency – and many of them will be anxious to some degree about this. Please refer any student you think may be having more difficulty to Chris.

Ill Students Returning to Class: If students are home ill from school, they will be able to return to class 48 hrs after they are symptom free OR they have been cleared by a doctor or school nurse (which may be much sooner than 48 hrs).  To help ensure we are all clear about when students are free to return, we are working on a “cleared slip” system.  Until that is in place, please send any concerns / questions about individual students to Molly, Roxanne, or Hang.  We will follow up with those students right away.  Please do not direct those questions to students – we don’t want to embarrass them or create a stressful environment.

Updates from Catriona and other Admin– It is critical that you carefully read each message that comes out regarding the school’s response to the coronovirus. This information is very important and potentially impacts teaching and learning and other key events that we participate in.

Continuation of Learning:  We have just a few students who are not able to come to school due to travel (all are currently healthy).  Please review this document to see the expectations and guidelines we have set up to support those students.  Our overall goals for students in this situation is to ensure that they feel connect to their learning, their teachers, and their peers.

Tuesday Early Dismissal:  We will be setting up tech training on Google Meet and PowerSchool Learning Discussion Boards from 1-3:00.  Time not in those trainings is for curriculum documentation.  We will also have a leadership team meeting from 3-4:00 to discuss plans for virtual learning (if that become necessary).
